About

The Australia Finance Conference (AUSFIC) is an annual initiative run by a group of highly motivated students from a range of universities across New South Wales. AUSFIC seeks to bridge the gap between theoretical concepts taught in business school and industry-practice.

The conference seeks to provide an advanced insight into the business operations performed by key industry leaders, and their responses to trending economic issues. The day consists of senior executives from a wide array of finance firms participating in panel discussions and hosting workshops to provide this insight.

Through the profile of our speakers and the success of each past conference, the Australia Finance Conference has become the largest student-led initiative in Australia.

Theme

By 2026, Sydney’s banking and finance sector will account for one in every five dollars generated by the city’s economy. Such growth is no doubt premised on the disruptive ways of innovation and technology, which has transformed traditional business to be adaptive, flexible, and forward-thinking. This disruption has also brought about new critical ways of thinking that firms now apply to keep afloat, such as design think.

As such, the AUSFIC team sees it fitting to theme our conference “firms of the future” amidst an ever-changing technological landscape. Through this we seek to explore how the financial services industry, and the many different types of firms within it, has transformed into a knowledge-driven services powerhouse.
